My name is Phout or Kami Thepphavong, a resident of
Fresno, here in California. I just wanted to send an
e-mail to commend your group and your website. It's
always nice to see other Lao individuals or groups who
are making the effort to improve our Lao community.
Here in Fresno there are about 10,000 if not more Lao
people and there are hardly any organizations that targets
to advancing the Lao community. Therefore, about a year
and a half ago, The Lao-American Advancement Center
was born. I am currently one of their secretaries and
we are all working very hard to establish a strong non-profit
based organization for the Lao community. Our vision
and mission are very similar to yours. Our current activities
are Lao Literacy Classes, which also includes cultural
and social learning, health screenings during community
events for diabetes and high blood pressure, and the
mentoring program. In addition, we are in the process
of building our website and hope to get it running soon.
One of the many challenges that the Lao community as
a whole faces is the need to interact and network among
each other. I hope that we can network and learn from
one another, and join hands in working towards the same
common goal, which is to better our community. Again,
I congratulate The Lao Group for your effort and support
you in your mission. I look forward to hearing from
your group and to share ideas.

Greetings to All,
Just returned from visiting your website. Wow!!!! With
my jaw still somewhere down there ;-), I want to drop
in and congratulate you on what looked like a festive
and informative networking among Lao professionals on
October 5. I wish I could have joined all of you.
Please
keep up the passion and dedication that your group have
for our community; it's truly inspiring to see the Lao
unity and the compassion working at their best in DC
metropolitan area.

refreshing, and

vision and I am willing to donate to further the cause
in supporting and promoting the Lao community. If I
