Teen Pregnancy Prevention Outreach
Coordinator
Salary: $25K - $28K based upon qualifications,
years of experience, and past achievements; plus benefits.
Essential Responsibilities: Conduct community outreach
and education on the consequences of teen pregnancy
and prevention strategies. Form partnerships with a
large array of public and private agencies, community
groups, and community advocates.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree
(or equivalent experience) in Public Health, Social
Work or Youth Counseling required. Must have strong
communication skills and ability to handle multitasks
and work under deadlines. Fluency in English and Vietnamese
is required. Travel to and from Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
Sometimes, work in the evening and on weekends.
Location: DC metropolitan area.
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Outreach Coordinator Boat
People S.O.S., Inc. (BPSOS) is a national Vietnamese-American
community-based organization with 22 years of service
and 14 branch offices across the U.S. Teen Waits is
a new program on teen pregnancy prevention funded by
the Department of Health and Human Services' Office
of Adolescent Pregnancy Program under the Adolescent
Family Life Demonstration Projects. Salary range: $25K
- $28K depending on qualifications, years of experience,
and past achievements; plus benefits. Essential
Responsibilities: The Coordinator's
primary responsibilities include: 1) Conduct community
outreach and education on teen pregnancy issues and
prevention strategies;
2) Organize information workshops on such issues;
3) Train the trainers to expand scope of services of
the program;
4) Establish partnerships with community-based organizations,
faith-based organizations, government agencies, and
service providers; 5) Work with BPSOS branch staff to
develop and implement outreach strategies;
6) Launch regional media campaigns, including preparing
articles in the Vietnamese language for the Mach Song
newspaper and the radio and television programs;
7) Prepare monthly activities and outcomes reports.
Goals: 6) All activities will be
implemented on time and on budget.
7) All outcomes will be met or exceeded.
8) Teens Wait will become an established program and
the prime model that sets the standards for replication
elsewhere.
9) Teens Wait will mobilize the broad participation
of community-based and faith-based organizations, parents,
community members, and community advocates in this project.
