Community Assets Program Coordinator

Salary: $30K - $35K based upon qualifications, years of experience, and past achievements; plus benefits.

Essential Responsibilities: Conduct community outreach and education for 3 community assets development programs, launch media campaigns, coordinate corporate and non-profit partners, and explore new funding opportunities.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with community outreach, excellent verbal and writing skills, being a self-starter.

Location: DC metropolitan area. Community Assets Program Coordinator Boat People S.O.S., Inc. (BPSOS), a national Vietnamese-American community-based organization, is looking for an Outreach Coordinator for its financial assets programs: First Accounts for Immigrants and Refugees (FAIR), Community Assets Building (CAB), and Tax Assistance for Vietnamese Immigrants with Low Income (TAVILI).

Salary range: $30K - $35K depending on qualifications, years of experience, and past achievements; plus benefits.

Essential Responsibilities: The Coordinator's primary responsibilities include:
1) Conduct community outreach and education on financial issues such as taxpayer's rights and duties, financial literacy, banking institutions, fair housing, homeownership etc.;
2) Organize information workshops on such issues;
3) Train the trainers to expand scope of services of the above programs;
4) Coordinate activities with partnering organizations, corporations and agencies (Citibank, FDIC, Office of Refugee Resettlement, other non-profits, community-based organizations...);
5) Work with BPSOS branch staff to develop and implement outreach strategies;
6) Launch local, regional and national media campaigns;
7) Identify and explore new funding opportunities and new, related programs.
Goals: 10) All activities will be implemented on time and on budget. 11) All outcomes will be met or exceeded.
12) FAIR will become the prime model and set the standards for replication elsewhere.
13) FAIR will lay a solid foundation for the strategic partnership between BPSOS and Citibank and for new community development initiatives.

equirements: The successful candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree and have at least 3 years of experience with community outreach, excellent verbal and writing skills, track record as a self-starter; and the ability to handle multiple tasks as well as work independently and work well in a team setting and with volunteers. Prior experience with marketing and coordination with federal, state and local agencies are strongly preferred. Proficiency in Vietnamese is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will work with 2 to 3 support staff or volunteers.
